About the platform

“The Civic Bell” does not end lessons, but calls for action. It is a platform for civic education that does not stop at knowledge, but leads further – towards causality, engagement and shared responsibility. The bell ringing here does not mean a break. It is a signal that it is time to get involved. To ask questions. To seek answers. What does it mean to speak up? What does it mean to be responsible for your school, your city, your country? How not to be afraid of politics, which does not only belong to the parties, but above all – to the people? “The Civics’ Bell” encourages to be present. Not in the classroom, but in the world.

CIVIC EDUCATION

Civic education is more than learning about the rights and duties of citizens – it is practical preparation for informed participation in society. Through it, we learn how to make decisions, cooperate with others and influence the reality around us. It is a process that develops curiosity, teaches responsibility and helps us understand that every voice matters. Civic education gives you the tools to not just observe the world, but to actively co-create it – at school, in your local community and on a daily basis.

Being active and involved

Civic education encourages people to take initiatives, ask questions and get involved in local and community-wide issues. It enables each person to discover that their voice and actions matter.

Understanding rights and democracy

Civic education provides a better understanding of how public institutions work, what democracy is and what rights each person has. It is knowledge that gives a sense of security and agency.

Building community

Civic education teaches cooperation, respect for diversity and responsibility for others. Civic education helps to create a society based on dialogue, solidarity and mutual support.

About us

The Free Courts Foundation is an independent organisation working for the rule of law, democracy and human rights. We believe that these are not abstract concepts – they have a real impact on our daily lives. That is why we are committed to civic and legal education, and we invite experts to share their knowledge and experience. We have already published two manuals with lesson plans: Elections. the First Lesson on Democracy and Learning Europe, and we have conducted numerous educational projects and lessons in schools.

How to use our materials?

“The Civic Bell” is a space open to everyone who wants to understand and co-create the world around them. For teachers, we offer ready-made lesson plans that inspire engaging and reflective activities. For students, self-discovery materials that encourage questions and the search for answers.

The Civic Bell

Our goal

We want everyone to feel that they can have an impact on reality – not only in theory, but also in everyday life. The Civic Bell was created to inspire civic activism, to teach responsibility for oneself and others, and to show that democracy starts with simple questions and courageous answers.

We believe that civic education is not dry facts, but an invitation to co-create the world around us. That’s why we’ve put together materials to help you understand how society works, how to make decisions and how to speak out on important issues – both local and national.

We are creating this website to build a community of people who do not wait for a signal from outside, but join in changing reality themselves. We invite you to join us on this journey – from curiosity to causation!

Our aim is to:

  • encourage curiosity and the courage to speak out on issues affecting the school, the city and the country;
  • to support those teaching future generations to teach engaging lessons and to provide learners with materials that encourage independent thinking and stimulate action;
  • creating a space open to all who want to be present in the world – consciously, actively and with hope.
